Type A Aortic Dissection
Type A Aortic Dissection done at the MEDICA Superspecialty Hospital
A 22years old gentleman from Bangladesh, who was traveling to Kolkata, started having chest pain with discomfort with sweating and mild shortness of breath from 11.4.18.
He was admitted in a reputed hospital in Kolkata, there cardiac evaluation revealed severe AR with type A aortic dissection. He was referred to our MEDICA hospital and was admitted on 13.4.18.
Type A Aortic dissection is a very difficult and rare case
Diagnosis at MEDICA
CT aortogram revealed free flap in the region of aortic root with dilatation of aortic root(Max diameter 6.2cm).
Treatment procedure
Patient was taken in OT on 14.4.18. Right axillary and bicaval cannulation done and CPB was initiated. After cross clamp, aorta was opened and ostial cardioplegia(del-nido) was given. The dissection flap was confined within ascending aorta only without involving arch. Bentall procedure was done.
Post Operative Care
Post operative period was uneventful. We could discharge the patient on 10th post operative day. 7day post operative follow up done. Patient is doing well now.
